Thorium Iodide, ThI₄

Thorium Iodide, ThI₄, was obtained by Nilson by burning the metal in iodine vapour. From a solution of thorium hydroxide in alcoholic hydriodic acid crystals of the hydroxyiodide Th(OH)I₃.10H₂O separate on evaporation in vacuo over sulphuric acid; and from the mother-liquor long needles of ThI₄.10H₂O can be obtained.
