Thorium Iodide, ThI4
Thorium Iodide, ThI4, was obtained by Nilson by burning the metal in iodine vapour. From a solution of thorium hydroxide in alcoholic hydriodic acid crystals of the hydroxyiodide Th(OH)I3.10H2O separate on evaporation in vacuo over sulphuric acid; and from the mother-liquor long needles of ThI4.10H2O can be obtained.
